Dear Parent/Guardian,
Our school is committed to ensuring that all students have safe and nutritious meals. If your child has a disability or medical condition that affects what they can eat, we are able to provide special dietary accommodations through the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and School Breakfast Program (SBP).
What you need to know:
- 1-Immediate Safety: If your child has a known or suspected allergy or medical restriction, we will provide a safe meal right away, even if the required medical documentation has not yet been submitted. Your child’s safety is our top priority.
- 2-Medical Documentation: To make long-term meal modifications, a medical statement signed by a licensed healthcare professional or a registered dietitian (starting 2025–26) is required. This statement should include:
- The medical condition or disability
- How it affects your child’s diet
- Foods to avoid
- Recommended substitutions
An IEP or Section 504 plan that includes this information may also be used.
- 3-How to Request an Accommodation:
- Complete and submit a Special Diet Request Form to the school or nutrition services office.
- Our Food Service Director will review the request and implement the approved modifications.
- Meal modifications for disabilities are provided at no additional cost.
- 4-Keeping Meals Safe: Our staff will take every precaution to prevent allergen cross-contact and ensure your child receives the correct meal.
- 5-Questions or Updates: If your child’s medical needs change, or you have questions about meal accommodations, please contact the Food Service Director or school nurse.
