Beyond Survival Presentation Information

March 19, 2020

Dear Parent or Guardian:

We have the opportunity to have the organization Beyond Survival present safety awareness classes to our students. All students grades K-12 will be participating in a storybook or video lesson and class presentation.  These lessons will happen either within the grade level classroom or within a small combined grade level group.  We are in the process of scheduling the exact dates of the presentations.

Presentations grades K–3 will focus on Personal Safety and Body Autonomy; grades 4-6 will focus on Self Esteem, Friendships and Internet safety; grades 7-8 will focus on Healthy Relationships, Personal Safety, Media Responsibility and Bullying; grades 9-12 will focus on Personal Safety, Healthy Relationships, Media Responsibility, Bullying, Sexual Harassment, as well as, Consent & Sexual Assault.

If you have any questions about the materials or information being presented, please direct them to Sara Owen (360-533-9751).  Sara is a youth advocate at Beyond Survival and will be presenting the lessons.  Sara is open to answer any questions you may have about the presentations.  She also encourages parents to preview the materials she will be using.  Even though Sara is doing the presentations, either myself and/or the classroom teacher will be present in the room.  I will be available for students who have any additional follow-up questions.

Please call or email me or Edwina Hargrave ( if you have any questions or concerns.

Thank you,

Ruthann Brown
